About Us

Your Spanish Experience offers Spanish language and cultural immersion programs to high school students during the summer. We currently offer an extraordinary program in Salamanca, Spain and in Costa Rica.

We want to create the opportunity for young people to become fluent in Spanish, which is increasingly important in the world today, and also to experience a different way of life. Through our programs we emphasize the importance of full immersion, excellent academic study, and offer a variety of cultural activities for a rich experience that will change the students’ lives forever.

About the Director

Alex Gómez

Alex Gómez, a native Colombian, has been working in the educational field for over six years while living in the United States. He has taught Spanish grammar, conversation, culture, and immersion in various settings including Lexington High School, City on a Hill Charter School, Boston Center for Adult Education, Brandeis University, and independent small group classes. For the past four years Alex has organized a three-week Spanish immersion trip to Spain for a group of high school students from Lexington High School. He has taught workshops and seminars in Spanish, combining themes of education and film, for several years through Massachusetts Foreign Language Association (MaFLA) and Brandeis University. In addition, Alex runs his own video production company specializing in the creation of educational videos, institutional videos, documentaries, civic campaigns, and commercials. He has a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Journalism from Universidad del Valle in Colombia and a master’s degree in Communication and Education from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona in Spain. Alex has traveled extensively and loves experiencing and sharing culture with others.

About the Assistant Director

Nicole Breaux

Nicole has served in the role of Assistant Director for three years and works hard to help all of our programs run smoothly. She offers varied experience with youth and students and has participated in immersion programs herself. Nicole is originally from San Diego, California and fully understands the importance of speaking Spanish fluently. She thoroughly enjoys working with youth and believes it is important to provide them with opportunities to expand their awareness. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Retailing and a Master’s degree in Theology, Philosophy, and Ethics. Nicole’s belief is that immersion in another culture, not simply traveling, opens the door for a new awareness that can lead to positive transformation. Immerse Yourself!
